Fruene i Fjøset - The Madams in the Barn - is a combination store-gallery-cafè in a barn in Stadsbygd, Norway.

To visit us, please call, Elizabeth +47 93048071, or find events and opening days on Facebook (We`ll try to keep this blog up to date also).  If we`re around, we can probably open even on short notice! :-)  You can also contact us by e-mail: frueneifjoset@hotmail.com.

Stadsbygd is situated across the fjord from Trondheim; about an hour from there by car and ferry/boat. It is a lovely country-side town on Fosen, a peninsula that with both ocean and mountains and everything inbetween often is called Norway in miniature.

"The Madams" were originally Tove and Elizabeth, two ladies who met and now work together in the spirit of wanting to create something, something good, for both ourselves and hopefully for our community and all our vistiors.  From fall 2017, the Barn is run by Elizabeth, in a little smaller scale.

We offer clothing, interior-articles, local crafts and art in a nice and informal atmosphere.  Visiting us, we wish to give you a feel-good experience.  Enjoy a cup of coffee and a nice piece of cake while finding inspiration from fashion, decorating, handcraften pieces and artwork, or simply enjoying birds singing and the smell of newly mowed grass in the garden a nice summer-day.

STADSBYGD:
One week in 2013 we had the honor of being SundayAngels of the week in Sigrun Helenes blog http://www.tarotnord.com/1/post/2013/06/sndagsenglene.html , a wonderful blog and homepage with a quite alternative angle and great reflections over every day life, people and life. Well Worth following! Her daughter Herdis wrote the text about us. Sigrun also wrote a little about some of the things we have to offer here in our village.

We also thought we should do a post over our fabolous Stadsbygd, and how People around us can use our village. And do it in both Norwegian and English in case someone preferring English stops by.

Then we discovered Mali`s (also daughter of Sigrun) fantastic post about Stadsbygda in her own blog http://ourbarabara.wordpress.com/2013/05/15/sunshine-and-a-little-bit-of-reklame/ Her entire blog is in English, so for our englishspeaking Readers, we just refer to this post for finding some of the Jewels we have here in Stadsbygda. Only addition we`d like to make is for how well suited Stadsbygd is for biking. If you are on the Trondheim-side of the fjord, the Ferry-ride to Stadsbygd is free if you bike. Stadsbygd the village is only a beautiful bike-ride through fantastic scenery away. When you get off the ferry, you take left, and someways up the hills, you find a sign "Helleristninger" where you take left and find the old road to Stadsbygd, passing the old rock inscriptions dating some 5000 years ago. If you come to Stadsbygd by your own boat, colorful bikes placed in the marina, free to use for whoever might want to roll around our village!! And wherever you go, don`t be afraid to ask one of the villagers -Staværing- for help on the way, or just stop one for a little chat!
